Day 9: The Late Shift

Hours Today: 8

Hours Total: 54

Today was a lot of fun. To put it simply, I spent the morning watching two more films to add to my collection from this project. The first was The Gentlemen, a film about a marijuana empire in London championed by an American entrepreneur, and the wide variety of criminals who want to steal his fortune. From beginning to end, the film is riddled with deception, crime, blackmail, bribery, and violence. The second was You’ve Got Mail, an unlikely love story between a small business owner and the owner of a much larger corporation that takes over her business. These two build a hatred for one another in person but simultaneously fall in love on an anonymous online dating site. It is a hilarious and witty romantic comedy, and I definitely recommend it. In the evening, I spent four hours or so on set doing the same as I have been doing for a handful of days throughout the last two weeks: silent observation. That said, silent observation on the set of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel is in no way underwhelming. Every second that I’ve been able to spend on the set of this show has been nothing short of breathtaking, and I am truly so amazed and so grateful that I have been able to do this in the first place. With one day left working with the Production Crew of the show, I am fully understanding how unique of an experience this has been but also, as I near my final days in NYC, I am feeling more inspired than ever to follow this industry further because I truly had no idea how captivating, entertaining, and fulfilling it can be.
