Hours Today: 5

Hours Total: 11.5

Today was an amazing sequel to what I began yesterday on the set of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Arriving at the studio in Brooklyn at 10:00 a.m, I was immediately sent to the art department to learn about set design, set construction, props, graphics, and everything else that is essentially responsible for everything we see in an episode short of visual effects and costumes. I learned about the stages a set goes through from design to actual construction, and the time and money required for this process. I also was given a tour of a handful of sets created for the show that were absolutely extravagant and a testament to truly how much detail is required to create a believable set for any film, let alone a tv show as decorated as this. Finally, I helped work on some background props, shadowed a member of the art department through different stages and sets throughout the Steiner Studios lots, and then concluded the day in the afternoon. So far, the people that I have been able to meet have been my favorite part of the experience. Everybody is incredibly kind and willing to help and answer the many questions I have every single time I walk into a new room, and I’m looking forward to whatever tomorrow holds.
