Today was my first day back home from New York, but I knew I still had work to do and was able to find a handful of ways to complete relevant work and expand on what I was able to learn during my time with the crew of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I completed a lot of different tasks today with this goal in mind. First, I watched a handful of already released episodes of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel with the goal of witnessing similar cinematic techniques that I had seen firsthand and taken notes on. I was able to watch scenes on sets that I had walked through just days prior, and was able to watch the show in a new light as I could see each individual scene in the same ways that I saw them being filmed in person. I also spent a lot of time developing a new screenplay of my own and attempted to use inspiration from the writing techniques I saw in New York. After all of this, I wanted to look for these same techniques in a different and more familiar piece of work, so I watched the Hitchcock classic Psycho. Naturally, I have seen this film plenty of times, but this time in particular I made an effort to pay close attention to the different cinematic techniques that Hitchcock is known for, trying to find some similarities between this classic film and the modern show I just worked with.
