Today was my last day working on the set of the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and it was simultaneously the most demanding workday I have experienced yet. This evening I was called to set at 5 p.m, and worked on set with the Director of Photography, his assistant, and the Head Director until after 1:30 in the morning. It was definitely a bittersweet experience at first as I realized it would be my last time working with this group of people and getting to see firsthand the production process behind such an incredible show, but as soon as this work began I was too immersed in the happenings on set to think about how I was sad to have to leave the following morning. I did a variety of things on my last night with The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel: I helped direct the actors throughout the set, helped move necessary items on and off the set throughout the evening, and primarily was able to shadow one of the Assistant Directors as he communicated with the cast and with the rest of the production throughout filming, and made subtle adjustments to each scene as filming went on throughout the eight-hour period. In the end I was so grateful to be able to chat with the Director about my future plans, aspirations, and various interests within this industry. My short but sweet conversation with him was simply a testament to how incredibly generous every single person I have met throughout the last two weeks has been. I am sad to be leaving, but am excited to use what I have learned and witnessed in the pursuit of (perhaps) a lifelong career.
